Stephanie and Gordon share their heartwarming journey with Plasma, their beloved greyhound with special needs.
A New Beginning
Their adventure began when Gordon ran for a Greyhound charity in the Chicago Marathon. Initially intending to adopt one greyhound, they fell in love with two—Bit and Hercules. After losing both to cancer, they reached out to Greyt Angels, and Plasma entered their lives.
Our adventure started when my husband decided to run for a Greyhound charity for his first Chicago Marathon. We have always been dog lovers and wanted to raise money for a “non-traditional” charity. Then we went to our first meet and greet with the intent of getting one greyhound and couldn’t choose between our beloved Bit and Hercules, so we ended up with two. Fast forward about five years and both of our greys ended up getting cancer and passing away within six months of each other. We were devastated, and the night our last one peacefully left us we contacted Lynn at Greyt Angels.
Meeting Plasma
Plasma, with his special dietary needs, found the perfect home with Stephanie and Gordon. Despite his health challenges, he quickly became a cherished family member and a classic "couch potato."
That is when our sweet boy Plasma came into our lives. He has some digestive issues and needs to be on special food and thyroid medication. That is the only reason I can think that this sweet boy spent some extra time with Lynn and Andy. He fit right in to our home and very soon became a “couch potato”.
Daily Joys
Plasma thrives on attention, using gentle nuzzles to demand cuddles. His excitement for walks and meals is infectious, earning him the nickname "miniature bucking bronco."
He loves to be petted and, no matter what you are doing, if he wants to cuddle he will tuck his nose under your hand. He is very insistent with nuzzles until you stop and pet him. Plasma’s favorite thing to do is going for walks and eating. He goes absolutely crazy when he knows it is time for either. We call him our miniature bucking bronco and have spilled more than our fair share of food bowls due to this.
Playful Antics
Though he occasionally mistakes the cat for his hedgehog toy, Plasma's playful nature brings laughter and joy to their home. His presence came at a time when Stephanie and Gordon needed it most.
He loves pouncing on his hedgehog toy and has accidentally mistaken our cat for his toy a couple times. Luckily this mistake is quickly realized by both parties and disaster is avoided!! Plasma has been a wonderful addition to our family and came at a time when we needed him the most.
Gratitude to Greyt Angels
Stephanie and Gordon express heartfelt thanks to Greyt Angels, Lynn, and Andy for bringing Plasma into their lives. Plasma's story highlights the incredible work done for greyhounds needing loving homes.
Greyhounds are really amazing pets and I can’t speak enough about the truly wonderful things Greyt Angels does for all of these dogs. Thank you Lynn, Andy, and Greyt Angels for sharing Plasma and letting him be a part of our lives!!”
Thank you, Stephanie and Gordon, for sharing your beautiful journey with Plasma.
