Tyler and MaryGrace share their heartwarming experience of adopting two special greyhounds, Azor and Ronan.
A New Beginning
After graduating college in North Carolina, Tyler moved to Indiana for grad school. As MaryGrace joined him, they explored adopting a greyhound. Despite a busy schedule, they contacted Greyt Angels and met Dozer, now known as Azor.
“Tyler and I graduated college in North Carolina in 2017 and a few days after that he had to move to Fort Wayne to start his master’s program at IPFW. Fast forward to that August and I came to visit for two weeks and Tyler was telling me all about greyhounds and that there were multiple adoption groups in Indiana, but with a busy grad student schedule he wasn’t sure that he’d be able to manage. My job hunt back home wasn’t going well and we made a plan for me to move up before the end of 2017.Tyler contacted Greyt Angels once he had a schedule down for the semester. He and I had both looked through the currently available hounds and he was recommended to meet Dozer. By mid September Tyler adopter Dozer, now known as Azor and I joined them the following month.
Welcoming Azor
Azor quickly became a beloved part of their lives with his calm and gentle nature. While he initially preferred sleeping in his crate, his love for walks and food was undeniable.
Azor was so calm and loving and gentle, we knew then that we could never be without a greyhound. Azor at the time did not like furniture and slept in his crate at night. He loved his walks then and still does now but his greatest love in life will always be food.
Enter Ronan
Eager to expand their family, they considered adopting another greyhound. When Spinner, a brindle boy, was returned, they seized the opportunity to meet him. Renamed Ronan, he brought a playful and snuggly energy to their home.
After some time Tyler and I discussed another greyhound and I constantly was looking at the currently available hounds. A beautiful brindle boy caught my eye and we talked it through, but we had debated too long and he was adopted. That was until a few weeks later when Spinner was returned and I knew that I needed to meet him.
A Perfect Pair
Azor and Ronan complemented each other perfectly. Azor taught Ronan to mellow out, while Ronan introduced Azor to the joys of furniture. Together, they filled Tyler and MaryGrace’s lives with patience, love, and joy.
We brought Spinner home on a trial foster to adopt for 2 weeks and then made it official. He now goes by Ronan as we found out pretty quickly he didn’t respond to Spinner very well.Ronan is quite opposite of Azor as he loves his toys, has a goofy grin, and is an absolute snuggle bug. The first night we had Ronan he got on the couch and we swear he hasn’t left one since.
Together they’ve taught one another and Tyler and I so much. Azor mellowed Ronan out from his 2 hours a day of constant spinning, Ronan taught Azor his love of furniture (we still have no room on our bed), and they have taught us patience and brought us so much love.
A Forever Family
Though Tyler and MaryGrace moved to South Carolina for work, they cherish their Greyt Angels family in Indiana. Azor and Ronan continue to bring happiness, proving that two greyhounds truly are better than one.
Greyt Angels meet and greets were one of their favorite times of the month, Azor learned that and the farmer’s market and did his happy jumps anytime we mentioned it. Work opportunities required we move to South Carolina but we will always have a Greyt Angels family in Indiana.”
Thank you, Tyler and MaryGrace, for sharing your beautiful journey with Azor and Ronan.
